DEFINITION:

An act of putting two sound-alike words together.

EXAMPLE:

Day and Way

Slight and Fight

Spoon and June

SIGNIFICANCE:

Rhyme is basically fun! With rhyming words, it is much easier for the reader to remember the lines in poems. Rhyme also helps the reader/poet learn more about language.
