DEFINITION:
Language that appeals to our senses.
EXAMPLE:
I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.
SIGNIFICANCE:
Poetry is supposed to be emotional and inspirational in order to convey a message to the reader. Poetry tells a story, but imagery helps poetry to show the story by helping the reader visualize the poems using their senses. By doing so, the reader will easily get the message conveyed.
