♥.WHAT IS POETRY??
Ancient Greek: ποιεω (poieo) = I create
Poetry is an art where human language is used to emphasize linguistic form in order to express/convey a message, instead of just using language purely for its content. With many devices such as assonance, repetition, imagery, etc poetry is used in a way that is felt by its user and audience – where the message is conveyed differently due to different perspectives.
♥ ♥. EXAMPLE:
The orchestra's mid-rehearsal
And I'm dying for a pee
But, although I'm holding up my hand
I can't make the teacher see
I clash the cymbals, bang the drum
But he doesn't hear my plea
If I have a tinkle on the piano
Then he's sure to notice me.
And I'm dying for a pee
But, although I'm holding up my hand
I can't make the teacher see
I clash the cymbals, bang the drum
But he doesn't hear my plea
If I have a tinkle on the piano
Then he's sure to notice me.
♥ ♥ ♥. WHY IS POETRY SOOOOO IMPORTANT?
Poetry is simply significant because it uses various literary methods including metaphor, allusion, sound, repetition, rhythm, irony, symbol, connotation and imagery. Unlike ordinary prose, poetry is a kind of multidimensional language, where it is directed at the whole person. It means so much more than just an understanding; it must involve the reader’s senses, intelligence, emotions and imagination. In brief, poetry can be read and interpreted by all classes and types of people; despite being in different classes, people’s souls and hearts can once unite by the ‘life’ of poetry.
